For the health and safety of athletes, officials and spectator’s, competition or training may be modified, suspended or cancelled.
- No centre activity, meetings, competition or training will occur on a declared “Catastrophic fire danger rating” day.
- All decisions for adverse weather will be made by a sub-committee consisting of at least 3 of the following Centre Executive members; President, Vice-President, Centre Team Managers, Competition Manager, Recorder.
- Decisions will be made in line with the LAVic Extreme Weather Policy.
- If adverse weather conditions lead to the cancellation of a competition program, clubs and families will be notified through SMS, TeamApp and Facebook. This will occur no later than 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of the program.
Wet weather
- This is ‘persistent heavy rain’ before or during an event. This may prevent the running of field events, in which case, the Centre will conduct a track only, wet weather suitable program.
Extreme Heat
- We have aligned this policy with the ‘Sport Risk Classification – 3’ setting of Sports Medicine Australia’s Extreme Heat Policy. This provides advise based on heat and humidity.
- Within the 12 hours prior to competition or training, an assessment based on the Bureau of Meteorology’s forecast will be made and programs may be adjusted or cancelled accordingly.
- During competition and training, assessments will also be made based on actual conditions observed at the Bureau of Meterology's Viewbank weather station.
Air Quality
- This is measured by EPA Victoria at Macleod. If it is “Poor”, “Very Poor” or “Hazardous”, competition will not commence and if in progress, will be stopped.
